Step-by-Step Guide
Installation & Mounting
Choosing Your Method
Every Tin Prints sign features four precision pre-drilled holes, one in each corner, to give you total flexibility on how you display your art. Whether it's a permanent outdoor mount or a temporary event setup, here's how to do it right.
Standard Screws
The best choice for wood, drywall, or fences. Use stainless steel screws for outdoor use to prevent rusting on your mounting hardware.
Command Strips
Ideal for apartments or rentals where you can't drill. Our aluminum is lightweight enough for high-quality adhesive strips to hold securely.
Zip Ties
Perfect for chain-link fences, balcony railings, or grid walls. Use UV-rated ties for outdoor longevity.
Stand-Offs
For a "gallery" look, use metal stand-off hardware to mount the sign 1-inch away from the wall for a professional layered effect.
Mounting by Surface Type
Follow these specific recommendations to ensure your sign stays secure and looks its best.
| Surface | Best Hardware | Pro-Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Drywall / Interior | Small nails or screws | Minimal weight means you don't need anchors. |
| Wooden Fence | Stainless Wood Screws | Pre-drill a tiny hole to prevent wood splitting. |
| Brick / Masonry | Tapcon or Concrete Wall Anchors | A hammer-drill is required for these surfaces. |
| Glass / Shop Window | Suction Cups or Clear VHB Tape | Clean the glass with alcohol before applying. |
| Metal Gate | Self-Tapping Screws or Bolts | Use a washer to protect the sign's finish. |
The Perfect Alignment
For a perfectly level sign, we recommend using a small torpedo level. If you're using screws, thread them loosely until all four are in place, then tighten them evenly. **Do not over-tighten**, as it can cause the aluminum to bow slightly.
Height & Placement Tips
-
"¢
Eye Level Rule: For most indoor spaces, the center of the sign should be about 57-60 inches from the floor-this matches "Eye Level" in art galleries.
-
"¢
Outdoor Security: If mounting in a public area, use security screws (Torx or Allen head) to prevent easy removal.
-
"¢
Wind Considerations: If mounting on a post in a high-wind area, use all four pre-drilled holes to prevent the sign from rattling or vibrating.
Safety First
- Check for electrical wires or plumbing behind walls before drilling.
- If hanging in high-reach areas, always use a steady, stable ladder and have a second person assist.
- Keep small mounting hardware (screws, nails) out of reach of children and pets.
